Kenyan Rap Artiste Vicmass Luo Dollar of the ‘Bank Otuch’ fame has agreed to a joint mentorship programme with Entertainment and Arts Journalists Association of Kenya (EAJAK) for upcoming acts who will be endorsed by judges in the ongoing talent search hosted  every Tuesday evening at Lava Lounge by Pori City Hotel.

The talent search event, dubbed Talent Tuesdays, is now in its fourth week and has seen performances by rap artistes, singers, instrumentalists, comedians as well as spoken word artistes.

Vicmass, who pulled a surprise appearance at last night’s event at Lava Lounge by Pori City in Otiende Langata, noted that it is only through talent searches that the next crop of stars can be brought to the limelight and mentored to make future superstars.

‘I remember when I started out, I was a nobody until someone well versed with the industry held my hand and showed me the ropes in the industry. I am today pledging support to this initiative because without the support of artistes who believed in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. As creatives, we must come together to ensure we support the youth and encourage them to explore their talents to pave way for a new crop of artistes,’

the rapper said.

The talent search considers five categories; spoken word, instrumentals, comedy, song and rap. The contestants send a one-minute video clip to +254733 597 349 or 0722758465 to register and upon shortlisting, appear to perform in person at Lava Lounge by Pori City Hotel before a panel of judges drawn from EAJAK and performing artistes from the entertainment industry.

The winners from every week will be at Lava Lounge by Pori City every Tuesday for the next 9 weeks where the last ones standing will be crowned at a lavish red-carpet street event. The grand prize will include a record deal, cash and mentorship.
