NBK To Finance Health, WASH Projects In Mombasa

National Bank of Kenya (NBK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mombasa County to provide financing for healthcare and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in the county.

 

The MoU was signed by NBK Corporate Banking Director, Ken Ouko and Mombasa County Governor H.E Abdullswamad Nassir.

 

Under the terms of the MoU, NBK will provide financing to support the County’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure including the implementation of a Health Management System, which would be banked by NBK as part of hospital revenue collection; implementation of an Ambulance Emergency Response Centre and provision of Asset Finance solutions for medical equipment for the Coast General Hospital.

In addition, NBK will provide financing to support the implementation of WASH projects, including enabling Mombasa Water to install Smart Metres (5,000), Water Kiosks (50) and a Sanitation facility for Buxton Estate as well as solar solutions for WASH projects in the County of Mombasa.

 

Speaking during the event, NBK Corporate Banking Director, Ken Ouko said:

Mombasa County Governor H.E Abdullswamad Nassir, expressed his appreciation for the partnership with NBK, saying the initiative will play a key role in delivering quality health and WASH services to Mombasa residents.

 

“We are grateful for the support and partnership with NBK, and we look forward to working together to improve the health and well-being of the people of Mombasa County,”

he said.

The MoU reflects the growing recognition of the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing development challenges as well as achieving sustainable development goals as envisioned in Kenya’s Vision 2030.
